Today's Rally + News Update January 07, 2010

Hi, all, it's been a while since I've actually said anything. Well, today I was actually able to attend a rally after a few unsuccessful attempts. This one was held in front of the CNN building in Los Angeles, Ca. It wasn't the huge crowd I thought it would be, but we definitely got their attention. We had one or two cameras from CNN and one from VOA, as well as others. Throughout the two hours we were there, we chanted: "democracy for Iran, human rights for Iran", "Khamenei, you can't hide - we charge you for genocide", "stop the torture, stop the killing", "free the political prisoners in Iran", "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Ahmadinejad has to go!", "theocracy no, democracy yes".

Across the street from us was a trail of green shoes, which I'm assuming are there to represent the people that have died since the bloodshed began. The rally didn't last very long, we were only there for a couple of hours. I did get some videos and photos (below) - you'll have to excuse the camera shakiness. The first video, you'll hear me coughing a lot - I'm not used to shouting very much, so my throat began to hurt after a while. And as much as I love to capture human emotions in my photos, I really wanted to avoid getting anyone's face, I know this is a very dangerous time, so I didn't want to put their friends or family in any danger. Anyway, it was great standing together with strangers with one common goal: freedom and human rights. Can't wait for the next chance. :)
