News Update - February 11, 2010

The day has passed but its effect hasn't. Those of you who participated in the protests and escaped capture or harm, I'm glad that you're alright. I know it's been a long eight months for you, but as long as you hold on tightly to the fact that you deserve freedom and your rights and the will to continue, you will win.

Someday, you will be able to walk down the street without neither being arrested over a baseless accusation, or watching someone else being dragged away. Someday, musicians will get their messages across without fear of persecution. Someday, you won't be forced to look at the portraits of a dictator wherever you go anywhere. Someday, you can hold hands with someone you love as you walk down the street. Someday, you can stand before a judge and challenge false accusations with your head held high, as a human being with dignity. Someday, there will be justice - and someday...you will be free.

So, the regime didn't fall today - but that doesn't mean they never will. One day they will run out of resources, but the ideals that you are struggling for never will. Nothing worth having ever comes easy - in my opinion freedom and your rights as a human being are very worth it. No one has the right to step on you. After all:
"all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." (Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
